A New Job Brings Hope After Learning Computer Skills

Learning computer skills can bring new hope and a new life.  One of our tutors would like to share this exciting story with you. 

I recently received a call from a nice gentleman in Oshawa, Carl, in his 50s who got injured at work and went on disability. After a while he wanted to return to work but he had done manual labour all his life and couldn’t do that anymore because of the back injury.   The company abruptly terminated him.

A friend suggested that he should learn new skills and try to find another, different type of job. He called us and I went to meet him. I started our “Introduction to Computers” course with him, teaching him basic skills on how to use a computer, and also helped him to buy an affordable laptop. 

After three weeks he was able to type documents, search the internet for information, and use email.   

I am glad to report that he has now found a new, temporary job which involves using a laptop computer utilizing the skills Seniors Tech Services taught him at his own home and at his own pace.
